Moroccan Christmas Eve dinner 2010
This year for Christmas Eve dinner I went with a Moroccan theme. It was all yummy and healthy (well, except dessert). And, I got to use some recipes from my Cookbook, Cupboard Cooking.
Chickpea Bites (page 16 of Cupboard Cooking)
Moroccan Stew (page 62 of Cupboard Cooking) served over Toasted Pine Nut Couscous
Sangak Flat Bread purchased from the bakery of Wholesome Choice Market
Date cakes served with Sticky Toffee Sauce and Whipped Cream
The date cakes were extremely sweet; I don’t think I’ll be making them again. But, they were perfect for the menu. So here’s the back story to why I made these cakes…
A couple weeks ago, my mom gave me the food section from the LA Times Newspaper. And, she pointed out (very happily) the recipe for cakes that she thought sounded fabulous. She read through the recipe, and that it was too much work, but wouldn’t it be fun to try these cakes.
Now, I knew that meant that she wanted these cakes but wouldn’t ask for them. And, no, I don’t think she was hinting at me making them, just that she thought they sounded great. Being the nice daughter that I am, 😉 I decided that I would make them for her. Yeah, like I said, they were really sweet and lots of work, so I’ll move on to other desserts. But, it’s always fun to make my mom happy!
