confession… another cheat day.
Today we stopped at a pumpkin patch where they had goats, and we played with the goats. Then we walked around the Orange circle, and had a Starbucks. Then we lunched at Haven Gastropub. We came home and carved pumpkins, and watched a scary movie.
I said I would make a tasty treat for while we watched the movie. So, I took the pumpkin seeds out of the pumpkins and cleaned them up. I was looking forward to my treat. (and, yes, if you sense a mishap coming, you are correct). I roasted the seeds for about 30 minutes. But, I wanted them to be a little more golden, so I thought I’d turn the broiler on and finish them up. Oh, yeah, I finished them alright! 2 1/2 minutes later I smelled burned seeds. That’s it, 2 1/2 minutes and they were burned. SIGH! They smelled so bad that I took them outside to let them cool and not smell up the house. Ah, I noticed that they weren’t all burned, so I thought I would separate out the good ones. Only, as I did, I lost my hold on the pan, and all the seeds went flopping, with a huge crash onto the ground. Dan came running out to check on me because the noise was so huge. We stood there looking at the mess, and both just started to laugh. Oh well!
But, I had promised him a treat while we watched the scary movie. So, I let him choose what he wanted. His choice, and he didn’t take long to make up his mind, was caramel corn. So, we made up a batch, and snacked through the movie (BTW, “An American Werewolf in London”).
It was a good day, and we had some good laughs.
