Homemade Kettle Corn

  • 2 tablespoons grapeseed or other light tasting oil
  • 1/4 cup granulated sugar
  • 1/2 cup popcorn kernels
  • 1/2 teaspoon kosher salt


  1. Heat oil in a large pot over medium heat, then stir in sugar and popcorn.
  2. Cover and shake the pot continuously until the popping slows to once every 2-3 seconds. Remove from heat, and continue to shake the pot until the popping has stopped.
  3. Sprinkle the corn with salt, and pour the popped corn into a large bowl (or a couple of large bowls). Allow to cool while stirring occasionally to break up the large clumps.
