  • 1 loaf French Bread
  • 12 eggs
  • 2 cups milk
  • 1 teaspoon vanilla
  • 1 teaspoon salt
  • 3 tablespoons unsalted butter cut into chunks

  1. Preheat the oven to 350° F.
  2. Cut the French bread into ½ to 1-inch cubes, place in a large bowl, and set aside.
  3. Mix the eggs, milk, vanilla, and salt together in a medium bowl until frothy, set aside.
  4. Place the butter in the bottom of a 13x9 pan, and place the pan in the preheated oven to melt the butter, about 5 minutes. Once the butter is melted, carefully remove the pan from the oven, and tilt the pan to coat the melted butter all over the bottom of the pan and about 1 inch up the sides of the pan.
  5. Pour the egg mixture over the bread crumbs, and toss to coat. Pour the egg & bread mixture into the butter coated pan. Bake in 350° oven about 30 minutes, or until eggs are set and casserole looks golden brown.
  6. Serve with your favorite toppings, maple syrup, fruit, whipped cream, whatever makes you happy!
