Can’t Miss Activities on Catalina Island – have you been to Catalina Island recently? There’s so much to do, to see, and to eat while you’re there.
Activities and Tours
The Zip Line Eco Tour is an amazing experience
So much fun. The tour lasts for 2 hours, but it goes by so fast. You start 600 feet above Descanso Beach Club. From there, you sweep over trees and the canyon. Be sure to take in the view as you go.
Next time I go, I’ll be going on the Catalina Aerial Adventure.
On the Catalina Aerial Adventure you get to climb, swing, and slide through trees on a network of suspended bridges, zip lines, and other obstacles. This looks like so much fun!
Catalina has two golf course adventures
A 2,100 yard course with nine holes. And, they have a mini gold course, which rocks! I’m a big fan of mini golf, and this is one course not to be missed if you are too!
There are several tours which will take you inland to explore the island
Choose a land activity based on your time to enjoy it. Some tours last under 1 hour, while they have some that go up to 4 hours and 15 minutes. You may even see buffalo. I have a picture of the ones that we saw, but it’s totally blurry and not so great. Maybe you’ll get a better shot.
There are several Ocean Activities and Tours
There are several Ocean Excursions to choose from. Like the Undersea Expedition, where you spend 45 minutes in a climate controlled cabin watching the undersea wildlife. The Glass Bottom boat is another way to see what’s going on below the surface of the Marine Preserve. You might find yourself eye to eye with a Garibaldi fish – the California state marine fish. There’s also the Flying Fish Voyage where you get to seek out the amazing flying fish. I’ve seen them, and they are so cool – they really can soar for incredible distances, up to 20 high and for yards across the surface.
Catalina Island Points of Interest
While you’re there, you can wander the Wrigley Memorial and Botanical Garden. It’s about a 30 minute walk from Avalon, and it’s beautiful! It’s also the primary access to make hikes along the island.
You can spend the day relaxing and eating too
There are lots of places to eat on the island, with a variety of foods to choose from.
Catalina Island Brew House has great lattes and baked goods.
The Bluewater Grill has fabulous food for lunch or dinner, and they are right on the water, so the views are outstanding.
Be sure to save room for some ice cream and candy from Scoops Homemade Ice Cream.
Descanso Beach Club offers a great place to relax, eat, and drink a cocktail, and you can even book your own cabana or chaise lounger.
Maggie’s Blue Rose offers great Mexican food.
There are many more places to eat, drink, and explore once you get to the island. These are just a few of the great places we tried.
And, my favorite song about Catalina Island by The Friendly Indians
If you’re in Catalina, drop me a line! Now I can’t wait to return.
