Happy tailgating snacks month!
I always like to include a little sweet treat in my tailgating snacks. I mean, you need to finish off the game with something sweet, right? And what could be better than this sweet treat that’s been slow cooking for 3-4 hours while the game’s on?
Recipe notes
Use approximately 12 ounces of caramel sauce. That’s 1 & ½ cups. And, in case you buy a jar that’s a little off of the 12 ounces, don’t worry. A little more or a little less, it’s all good.
If you want to use homemade salted caramel, feel free. I have a great recipe for a delicious and easy Salted Caramel Sauce.
2 ½ pounds of apples is about 5 large apples.
I highly recommend one of those apple peelers. You know that kind that Granny used to use. They make short work of these apples, and it’s way easier than using a vegetable peeler and a separate apple corer. If you make any amount of apple dishes in the fall, you definitely want one of these. They save so much time.
This is also delicious cold from the fridge the next day if you have leftovers.
Is this healthy?
This is still a dessert, but as far as sweet treats go, this one’s not bad at all. Delicious and yummy apples. And they say that an apple a day keeps the doctor away.
Did you know that the Granny Smith apple is the lowest in sugar of all the apples? It’s true! And they are so tart and so good.
And you’ve got all that yummy peanut butter; high in protein. Use your favorite kind of peanut butter here. One that’s a bit lower in sugar like a natural peanut butter would be great here.
