Eggnog Oatmeal Cookies – soft, chewy oatmeal cookies with lightly crispy edges and the warm, cozy flavor of creamy eggnog baked right in! Topped with a sweet eggnog glaze, these festive Christmas cookies are pure holiday magic.

These spiced eggnog oatmeal cookies are the perfect treat for cookie exchanges, holiday dessert trays, or cozy nights by the tree. The eggnog flavor shines in both the cookie dough and the icing, giving you that nostalgic holiday taste in every bite. A family favorite for Christmas baking — and who knows, Santa might just leave you a few extra presents for making these!

Make it festive

So I decided to make it festive and give it an eggnog twist!

You can see the plain eggnog cookies in the picture below.

Cookies:

  • 1 cup firmly packed brown sugar
  • 3/4 cup vegetable shortening
  • ½ cup granulated sugar
  • 1 egg
  • ¼ cup eggnog
  • 1 teaspoon vanilla
  • 1 teaspoon eggnog extract
  • ¼ teaspoon ground nutmeg
  • 3 cups Old-fashioned rolled oats uncooked
  • 1 cup all purpose flour
  • 1 teaspoon salt
  • ½ teaspoon baking soda

Icing:

  • 1 cup powdered sugar
  • 1 & ½ tablespoons eggnog
  • ¼ teaspoon eggnog extract

Instructions

Make cookies:

  • Preheat oven to 350° F.
  • In large bowl, beat with a hand mixer or sturdy fork, the brown sugar, shortening and granulated sugar together until creamy. Add egg, water and vanilla; beat well.
