Tailgating Snacks 2023 for the month of October! This is my tenth year of doing this event. And I always have fun with it. I hope you guys do too!

This year I added some Dia de los Muertos or Day of the Dead recipes in with the spectacular game day appetizer recipes!

And, if you look at the bottom of the post, you’ll find all of the round ups from the prior years so you can take a look at some past football party food and get more great ideas of what to serve.

I also have a Pinterest board dedicated to Game Day Appetizers you’ll want to check out! And I have a great collection of Tailgate Desserts!

This year’s thoughts

This year in addition to the wonderful classic appetizer and dessert treats I added in a couple of Day of the Dead recipes.

I had so much fun with the Halloween recipes in 2022 I wanted to expand even more.

I had actually planned on doing more of both the Day of the Dead recipes and the classic appetizer recipes, but we are in the middle of a remodel, and my kitchen is going to be out of service for awhile. So, I could only do so much.

The recipes!

Pizza Tarts have been a huge hit on my blog for years. So I decided to update the photos and information for you to bring them back to those who have forgotten about them or maybe you are discovering them for the first time!

chocolate skull cakes glazed with white icing and decorated for Halloween or Dia de los Muertos with pick and orange flowers in the background.

Skull Cakes can be made for Halloween, Day of the Dead, or pirate parties! They are so much fun and even more exciting, they’re delicious! A moist chocolate cake that’s spiced with cinnamon and chipotle. So good!

Red Pepper Feta Dip that's creamy and swirled in a bowl topped with red pepper flakes and pepper and olive oil.

Red Pepper Feta Dip is a delicious creamy blended dip that only takes minutes to make. It’s perfect on any game day spread. It’s also welcome at holiday parties and cheese plates.

Two jars of pepper jelly one with a spoon on top of it, fresh parsley, and a plate of crackers.

Homemade Pepper Jelly is sweet and spicy and thick and rich. And perfect for cheese plates as well as sandwiches and appetizers. It’s great to make as gifts. It’s perfect for any game day spread as well as holiday parties. I made it once for a super bowl party and it was the first to disappear. It’s a must make!

Two cups of coffee on a brown tray with monarch butterflies around.

Warm and spiced, this Mexican Coffee is great for Day of the Dead. But it’s also a nice way to warm up on chilly game days. You could put it in a thermos and take it with you. I love it iced as well.

some loaded rice crispy treats on a piece of parchment paper with pretzels and chocolate chips around.

Loaded Rice Crispy Treats are a sweet and salty twist on the classic cereal and marshmallow treat. These easy to make snacks belong on every game day spread – they’re that good!
