Chocolate Peppermint Pretzel Crisps are an easy holiday dessert that makes a bunch for a crowd, is a great gift, uses basic ingredients, and stores for a long time. This festive sweet and salty combo takes the classic crunch of a pretzel, combines it with creamy chocolate and tops it all off with fresh minty peppermint.
Chocolate Peppermint Covered Pretzels are a last-minute edible gift idea for the holidays and they make a great addition to any holiday cookie tray. And, you know, this is the kind of treat I would love year-round! No bake, no cook, quick crunchy sweet treat.
Dark Chocolate Peppermint Pretzel thins are also a great way to use leftover candy canes or peppermint starlights candies. Check out my latest peppermint & chocolate no bake treat, Peppermint Rice Krispies Treats for a fun festive snack.

How to make
Do you love peppermint and chocolate together as much as I do? Then you will LOVE these chocolate covered pretzel crisps. A little salty, rich from the chocolate, and the crisp bite of peppermint! Snacking perfection!
Let’s talk about the ingredients
There are just three ingredients here: chocolate, pretzels, and peppermint. But there’s loads of options to play around with.

Chocolate
You can use dark chocolate, milk chocolate or white chocolate. Use chocolate chips, bars, white chocolate chips or even peppermint bark.
If you use a bar or bark, you’ll want to break it or cut it up into smaller pieces.
Melt the chocolate in the microwave, in 30 second bursts, stirring after each one until melted. The microwave is my preferred method here. It’s quick, not messy, and I can melt it in the dish I plan to use to dip it in.
You can also melt it on the stove top, maybe in a double boiler.
Then, pour the melted chocolate into a small bowl with tall sides. This keeps the melted chocolate in a nice deep pool.
Pretzels
Another simple ingredient, but with lots of options.
Use Pretzel Crisps from Snack Factory (that’s what you see in my photos).
But these treats also work well with any kind of pretzel mini, gluten free pretzels, regular pretzels, or pretzel rods (these make impressive gifts when they’re wrapped in cellophane bags and ties with a pretty ribbon). Snyder is another good brand I trust here.

Peppermint candies

Next up, you’ll need some crushed peppermint candies. It’s nice that they sell bags of these at the grocery store almost year-round now. Just go in and buy a bag.
You can also make your own using crushed peppermint candies or crushed candy canes to make the crushed peppermint candy garnish.
Just place the candies in a ziptop bag and smash the heck outta them with a wooden spoon, meat tenderizer, rolling pin, cutting board, heavy skillet, or anything nice and heavy.
Assemble the sweets
Next up, assemble. This is easy.

Pro tip: get the equipment out and ready before starting to dip, so you dip and decorate with ease.
Cover a baking sheet with parchment paper or waxed paper.
Dip Pretzels about halfway into the melted chocolate, allow excess chocolate to drip off of the pretzel, and place the coated pretzel on the prepared baking sheet. I like to dip half of the pretzel. This keeps clean fingers both making and eating them, and that way the pretzels don’t get overwhelmed by the chocolate. It’s also super pretty!
Sprinkle crushed candies onto the melted chocolate.
These can sit at room temperature, or place pretzels in the refrigerator for a couple of minutes to firm up.
Don’t be afraid to put the chocolate back in the microwave for a few seconds if it begins to thicken up. Chocolate that’s cooling can turn thick and lead to uneven coating.

Storage
Keep leftover chocolate-dipped pretzels in an airtight container at room temperature or in the refrigerator for at least 2 weeks. These last for a surprisingly long time in the fridge without getting soft or stale at all.
For longer storage, chocolate peppermint pretzels may be kept in the freezer for up to 6 months.
They’re delicious straight from the freezer too, kind of like a Girl Scout Thin Mint Cookie.
Changes to the recipe
And even with all the suggestions above, I have a couple more for you. (These treats are just so good, versatile, and so easy to make, there’s really no reason to not make them!)
Make peppermint chocolate by adding a few drops of pure peppermint extract or food grade peppermint oil to chocolate.
Add a sprinkling of salt to the tops of the Holiday treat for a fun garnish.
Make White chocolate peppermint pretzels by drizzling the dipping them into white chocolate or by drizzling the finished treats with melted white chocolate.
Add a small amount of coconut oil, about ½ tablespoon to the chocolate. It’ll help make the chocolate smooth and shiny.
