We appreciate your support

Please let me know if you have any questions about this recipe. I read all the comments myself and I try to help as soon as I can. I have readers from all levels of comfort and experience in the kitchen on my site, and I’ve tried to answer some of your questions already in the post. But if I’ve missed anything, please feel free to leave a comment and ask.

How to make

This chili dip is unbelievably easy and totally delicious. The slow cooker does all the work, turning these simple ingredients into a warm cheesy dip that’s perfect for scooping with tortilla chips.

ingredients on left and added to the slow cooker on right.
Use your favorite chili and salsa!

Simply add all the ingredients to the bowl of a slow cooker, and let it do its magic.

For the ingredients, use your favorite, any will work. I used a vegetarian chili with beans and my favorite salsa. Go with mild, medium, or spicy for the chili or the salsa. Thicker or thinner chili and salsa will give a different consistency as well, so if you like a thick sturdy dip, be sure to use thicker chili and salsa.

Go with a low-fat chili and a lower fat cream cheese if you like as well.

Football slow cooker

I was gifted this adorable football slow cooker, and I love it so much that I wanted to come up with a super easy recipe for you. It’s a nice small slow cooker, at 1.5 quarts, so it’s perfect for dips, queso, wings, and for dinner for one person.

I think this slow cooker will make a fantastic addition to any football party!

Storage

To prevent bacteria from growing, never leave the dip at room temperature for more than two hours. I like switching the slow cooker to low to keep the dip warm while people eat.

Properly stored, this dip will last in the refrigerator for about a week. For best and safest results, store the dip in an airtight container. Make sure to let it cool completely before placing it in the fridge. I like to take it out of the stoneware bowl to let it cool down faster (that stoneware will retain heat for a long time).

Reheat on the stovetop or in the microwave.

Serving suggestions

This Chili Cheese Dip is the ultimate tailgating MVP! Whether you’re hosting a big game watch party or bringing a slow cooker snack to share, this easy appetizer delivers big flavor with minimal effort.

It’s ideal for tailgates, potlucks, or Sunday football snacks, this dip is guaranteed to be the first thing gone from the table!

Besides being a fantastic dip, you can pour the chili cheese over baked potatoes for a great stuffed potato or over French fries for a fun loaded fries snack.

Roll it in a tortilla for a quick bean and cheese burrito or add it to quesadillas.

Use it as a topping for nachos; we always have a make your own nachos bar at our Super Bowl party.

Make easy chili dogs by spreading over hot dogs.

It’s fantastic with pretzels or pretzel bites.

Sandwich it in a pretzel bun for a fun twist on a sloppy joe!

Change it up

Feel free to use this as a starting point to mix it up and customize it.

Maybe adding sauteed ground beef or cooked sausage to it. Add some grated cheddar cheese to make it cheesier. Use cubed Velveeta processed cheese in it. And, yes you can totally use homemade chili or salsa as well. Here’s my favorite homemade vegetarian chili and a fantastic traditional salsa recipe.

Mix up the spices in it by using taco seasoning, Cajun seasoning, or homemade chile powder.
