Crab for this crab dip

The Dungeness Crab that I used for this recipe was generously given to me by my friends, Ken and Barb.

Fresh crab rocks, and so do those who share!

If you’d like to try cooking your own Dungeness, I have instructions here (also courtesy of Ken & Barb).

Crock Pot {slow cooker} Hot Crab Dip -- easy to make and delicious!

Dungeness Crab

We are back up in the land of Dungeness crab, and I have a great new recipe for you. Everyone loves crab.

And, everyone loves the slow cooker.

This Crock Pot slow cooker Crab Dip is as easy to make as it is to eat; pop it all in the slow cooker, a few stirs, and you have an impressive appetizer that’ll be a hit at any party, tailgate, or just for sitting around and enjoying a nice evening.

I used Dungeness Crab meat from 1 crab, and got a little over a cup of meat. A little more or a little less crab meat will be fine.

What size crock pot should I use?

The recommended crock pot size for this recipe is about a 2 quart slow cooker.

When I made this dip, I only had a 4-quart slow cooker, and it worked just fine. I just had to clean a bit more crock pot than necessary, but that’s ok.

I made this crab dip in my big slow cooker on Thanksgiving. It was so good; everyone loved it including myself! I followed the recipe exactly. I just bought a baguette, sliced it, then toasted the bread in the oven and we used that for dipping. It was excellent thanks for the recipe!

Would any leftover crab dip be okay ro reheat?

  12. Debi

    December 10, 2024 at 1:38 pm

Jennifer, yes, I think it will be fine to reheat. That is if you followed safe food handling. If the dip sat at room temperature for more than or close to 2 hours, I’d probably say don’t reheat it. But, if you kept it hot, then refrigerated it right away after it cooled, it’ll be good. Heat it back to 165 degrees F. Also, always give your food the sniff test. And, when in doubt, throw it out.

Currently at the tail end of making this dish right now, per my taste tests this is delicious! I will be making again in the future and can’t wait to share with my family today 🙂 I substituted lump crab meat from the grocery store, so I imagine it is even better with fresh crab!
