And, this rich and zesty sauce is so good! It’s thick with a little kick, a little sweetness. It has it all going on! Want to learn how to make your own pizza sauce, here’s the answer!

I have readers from all levels of comfort and experience in the kitchen on my site, and I’ve tried to answer some of your questions already in the post. But if I’ve missed anything, please feel free to leave a comment and ask.

House favorite

I realized the other day that my favorite pizza sauce didn’t have a post of its own.

I mean, I’ve shared the recipe before on my French bread pizza recipe. But I’ve only shared it on other pizza recipes.

And, since it’s such a favorite in this house, I thought it deserved a nice little space all its own!

We use it all the time. If there isn’t a jar in the fridge, I’ve probably stashed it in the freezer.

Just thaw it in the microwave, or take it out of the freezer the day before you want to use it.

It’s thick and rich, with a little sweetness and a little heat. It’s filled with herbs and spices, and requires no cooking!

Just stir it all together.

Super easy and yummy!

No need to go out to your favorite pizza place anymore and spend lots of money. Now you can make it at home!

And, it goes great on lots of different pizzas, like my Garlic & Herb Pizza.

How thick should pizza sauce be?

The nice thing about making your own pizza sauce is that you can make it as thick or thin as you want it.

My recipe makes a nice thick sauce that won’t make your pizza soggy.

Start with making the recipe as written. Then, if you want a thinner sauce, simply stir in a little more water.

I have a friend who makes the sauce. He serves it over chicken breasts and tops it with cheese, so it’s a low carb chicken pizza. When he serves it this way he likes to thin it a little more so it’s easier to spread over the chicken.

So, when you ask, “how thick should pizza sauce be?” the answer might depend on what you’re using it for.

I do homemade pizza sauce most of the time, too. SO much better than the store bought which tends to be on the sweeter side.
